 02/14/04 -- Teams from all over the country trekked to the Dairy State this past weekend for 2004 Quad Nationals and the Skater's Edge Inline Invitational. Both events were held in Appleton, Wisconsin on February 14th and 15th. A beautiful Tite-Anium coated track on a mid-size floor made for fast racing, but also for some painful spills. Some skaters came off the floor with bruised ribs and even burns on their faces. Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Virginia, Missouri, and Texas were among the states whose teams participated. Sponsored skaters making an appearance included Jim Larson of Hyper and Alicia Taggart of Bont. Dennis Taksar (Standard Senior Men) and Emily Popp (Standard Senior Ladies) of Northeast Ohio Speed were in attendance, the former skating the quad event and the latter inlines. Due to some bad luck, Dennis did not fare so well in his races, but put out a great effort despite a fall which set him back. Emily received a gold medal in her division and won both her short 5 lap and long 15 lap races.
